• Mexico's most-wanted drug lord "El Mencho" killed: Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, leader of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), was killed in a Mexican military operation. The cartel is heavily linked to fentanyl trafficking. His death has triggered violent backlash, with gunmen torching vehicles, blocking roads, and clashes in several Mexican states. U.S. officials reportedly assisted via joint task forces.
 
IRAN
 
• Escalating U.S.-Iran tensions: President Trump is reportedly considering targeted military strikes against Iran (potentially followed by larger action), with two U.S. aircraft carrier groups positioned nearby. Trump has expressed puzzlement over Iran's refusal to "capitulate." Last-ditch talks are planned in Geneva. • Major winter storm hitting the Northeast: A powerful nor'easter is bringing heavy snow (up to 2 feet in parts of New York and the region), travel bans (including a full ban in NYC), school closures, and major disruptions to Monday commutes. NJ Transit plans to suspend service.
 
• Supreme Court blocks Trump's earlier tariffs: The Court struck down key aspects of the administration's tariff approach, prompting the EU to insist the U.S. must honor existing trade deals. GZB INFOCUS: HIJRA-IMMIGRATION JIHAD
 
The concept connecting immigration and jihad in Arabic, often interpreted through a security lens as "civilization jihad" or, in some extremist contexts, hijra (migration) as a tool for expansion, links the peaceful, historical Islamic migration (hijra) to a form of struggle (jihad) aimed at influencing new lands.
 
Key aspects include:
 
• Hijra (هجرة): Historically refers to Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina to escape persecution, establishing the first Islamic state. It is considered a form of worship and a praiseworthy action in the face of oppression.
 
• Jihad (جهاد): Translates to "struggle" or "effort," covering internal, intellectual, and physical forms. While historically defensive, it is often contextually misused to justify aggressive expansion.
 
• The Intersection: The concept often discussed in contemporary political discourse and analysis, suggests a deliberate, strategic migration (hijra) intended to advance Islamic influence or "jihad" in non-Muslim regions.
 
This makes complete sense when the goal of Islam is World Domination. The Ummah, or “Global Caliphate” is the goal.
 
• Misappropriation: Some extremist groups, such as the Islamic State, have Perverted the meaning of hijra, changing it from a peaceful migration to a mandatory relocation for combat.
 
**NOTE: Whatever the original intent or purpose, in modern times, Hijra has cone to mean “Immigration Jihad.”
